Windhill and Wrose
Cllr Vanda Greenwood seeking your vote to serve you in Windhill & Wrose E-mail

Vanda's been a councillor for Windhill & Wrose since 2004.  She was born and brought up in the ward so knows it well.  We asked her to tell us what she was most proud of achieving in that time.  She said:

I have chaired “Streets Ahead” since it started in 2006.  In that time, working with a strong group of residents, we have significantly improved the area.  Fly tipping, crime and anti social behaviour have all gone down.

I campaigned with residents successfully to stop planning applications for an expansion of Bolton Woods quarry’s activity three times.  If we had lost this fight it would have meant a huge increase in lorries going up a residential street.

Services to Bradford Royal Infirmary from Shipley are set to improve early in 2010 thanks to a great campaign run by Councillor Vanda Greenwood and Peter Warwick. On 17 December Metro's Tendered Services Working Group agreed changes to bus services 619 and 629 which will secure the continuation of the service between Shipley and the Hospital and will introduce buses running on Sundays and into the early evening on Monday to Saturday on a trial basis.

From 24th January 2010, service 629 will run from Shipley Crag Lane to Bingley via Heaton, the Infirmary, Sandy Lane and Cottingley.  The service will be operated by Halifax Joint Committee who will provide low-floor, easy-access buses, which will be better for elderly passengers or those with young children.
