Andrew Mawson is the Council Candidate for Bingley ward in the local elections which will be held on May 6th 2010, the same day as the general election.
Andrew Mawson, 41, is a civil servant and lives in Gilstead. He attended local schools including Beckfoot and therefore knows the area well. He fought the council by-election caused by the resignation of a Bingley Tory Councillor taking an increased share of the vote on a cold and snowy day in December 2008. |

On 7th April there’s going to be an opportunity for people to
drop into the Arts Centre in Bingley to have a look at the plans for this
controversial development. The
developers have submitted plans for 475 dwellings (houses and flats) on this
site and there has been a big campaign against it, led by the Greenhill Action
Group (www.greenhill-action-group.co.uk)
The event will run between 10 and 12 noon, followed by an unrelated
“Police and Community Together” meeting for an hour at 12 noon, where the
police come along and speak to residents about what action they are taking in
the area.
If you can’t make the meeting then you can either go to Shipley Town
Hall to view the plans or have a look at them online where you can also leave
comments. Follow the link here.

Bradford
& Bingley are selling off the building in the town centre however it looks
unlikely that it will be able to be used for a supermarket. Tesco have looked at the site and judged it
too small for their purposes.
We
understand that the site is likely to be flattened on sale however
Parliamentary Candidate, Susan Hinchcliffe, expressed her concern that the site
might be left as a hole, “What I don’t want to see is for us in Bingley to have
our very own hole, just like the one in the centre of Bradford.”
